FAQ

Not right away. For the first lessons you're welcome to use one of my saxophones — properly sanitized, of course. When the time comes, there are good rental options before committing to a purchase, and you can count on my advice every step of the way.

From around 8–9 years old up to any adult age. The teaching simply adapts — to the level, the pace, and whoever is on the other side.

No. Reading music is a useful skill and can be part of the learning, but it's not a requirement to get started.

Lessons come in three formats: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour. Which works best is something we figure out together — in the trial lesson or as we go.

Jazz, classical, pop, Latin — whatever draws you in. The foundation — sound, technique, expression — is the same regardless of style. Once that's in place, the music follows.

About

Antonio Jara is a jazz saxophonist, teacher, and woodwind repairer based in The Hague.

Originally from Portugal, his background includes studies in jazz saxophone at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

Alongside performing in big bands and smaller ensembles, he has worked across a wide range of musical settings: from jazz and improvisation to funk and classical music.

Much of his time is also dedicated to the workshop. His interest in repair, restoration, and craftsmanship began through his grandfather, a goldsmith, and gradually developed into a parallel path alongside music.
